Roll Tide, Roll!

I am amused that Helen Keller was chosen for the Alabama quarter. Most people know the "Miracle Worker" part of Helen Keller's life (or at least they know a Helen Keller joke or two), but what most people do not know is that she became an outspoken Socialist and opposed the United States' entry into World War I. She joined the the US Socialist Party in 1909, only to change her allegiance to The Industrial Workers of the World organization in 1916 because the Socialists "were moving too slow". Now, she has been chosen to represent Alabama, widely considered to be one of the more conservative of the "red states".

I think Montana has the coolest quarter. It's tough to beat a cow skull. The only thing that could come close is if Alaska puts a big totem pole on their quarter or Hawaii puts some kind of Tiki god on theirs.
